ADZU celebrates Buwan ng Wika

Hundreds of freshmen and sophomores from the college department participated in the Culminating Activity of Buwan ng Wika which took place in MPCC last August 27, 2010. With the theme “Sa Pangangalaga ng Wika at Kalikasan, Wagas na Pagmamahal Talagang Kailangan,” the institution catered different competitions for subjects under the Languages Department. The top three winners for each contest were also awarded at the end of the program.
The activity was divided in two sets. The morning program was for the Filipino competitions and the afternoon session was for the English. Sabayang Bigkasan, Ethnic Dance and Doble-Kara were the contests showcased. In the afternoon, Philippine Literature Quiz Bowl, Extemporaneous Public Speaking and Speech Choir Contests were held. The top 3 winners were recognized and applauded for during the awardings.
For the Sabayang Pagbigkas, Fil 111 C spot the the 1st place, followed by Fil 111 B and Fil 111 A. Fil 111 J won 1st place for the Ethnic Dance, Fil 111 I was the 2nd placer and Fil 111 D as the 3rd placer.
April Joy Esmael was triumphantly awarded as the 1st placer for the Doble-Kara followed by Aphrodite Sencio and Timothy Arevalo.
For the Philippine Literature Quiz Ball, the team composed of Kristine Joy Cantar, Sheryl Serrano and Renela S. Ramos won the 1st place followed by Jaime Punzalan, Clavelyn Domingo and Kyle Tacadao; and Anette Fernando, Ryan Camansa and Ana Zamora of as the 3rd placer.
Adriel Earl Torribio was declared the champion for the Extemporaneous Speaking Contest. Not far behind were Everlyn Jaji and Mark Anthony Cabilo as the 2nd and 3rd placers, respectively.
For the Speech Choir Contest, Eng 211 I bet all other contestants by winning 1st place followed by Eng 211 L and Eng 211 A.
Other winners for competitions like the Essay Writing in English were awarded as follows, Gadzmin Salisa; 1st place, Hyacinth Vienne Bejerano; 2nd place and Elise Ann Chiong; 3rd place and for the Filipino, Rustom Pastor Jr.; 1st place, Jose Carlo Cabaron; 2nd place and Diane Candido; 3rd place. For the Spelling Bee, Alyanna Ragot won the 1st place followed by Willaforte Edgar Mumbing and Ronie Renzie Bandiola. Sheena Therese Manalo, Martille John Reyna and Kyra Gayle Molina were the 1st placer in the Reading Challenge followed by Jerikka Ginelle M. Ebias, Dave Jamahali and Janikko Singular and Apryll Grace A. Pagayon, Sharna A. Andasa and Nazrina A. Hassan. Jester Ban garnered 1st place in Poem Writing Contest in Filipino followed by Ahmad-Dhen B. Majuddin and Jemaica S. Lim. Aside from the recognition, there were also prizes given to the winners.
Indeed, the activity had been a successful one not only for the students who have reaped off but also to those who did their best to keep the spirit of Buwan ng Wika. Congratulations!
