Background
The Ateneo de Zamboanga University as an educational
community commits itself to serve as an agent of change
in bringing about peace and development in the city,
the region, and the nation. To achieve/realize this
vision the school offers programs and activities that
are responsive to the needs of the community.
In this context, Ateneo de Zamboanga, recognizing
its responsibility to keep the educational community
in touch with its internal and external realities,
continuously energizes the Ateneo Research Center
(ARC).
ARC, on the other hand, commits itself to foster
a culture of research within and beyond the institution
it serves. It accomplishes this by taking an active
role in the generation of research projects and by
collaborating in and/or supporting significant research
endeavors whether initiated by members of the school
community or by its various constituencies.
ARC through its research activities contributes to
the attainment of the school’s vision. It believes
that research generally supports and enhances both
instruction and extension services in Ateneo de Zamboanga
University.
In a wider context, ARC also believes that economic,
social, cultural and political advancements must be
strongly anchored on research findings. It is for
this reason that ARC, in its effort to contribute
to the attainment of the school’s vision, formulated/prepared
a Research Agenda that sets the direction of researches
in ADZU in the next five years.
Since its formation, the Ateneo De Zamboanga University
Research Office has been undertaking researches for
institutional planning and development and assisting
in the regional development efforts with researches
on health, culture, agri-industrial, peace, sustainable
development and information technology.
Continuing this effort and responding to existing
situation in the area, ARC adopts the following major
priority areas and their corresponding research themes:
