19th Annual Benefactors- Scholars’ Gathering

The Office of  Scholarships, headed by Conrado Z. Balatbat, hosted the 19th Annual Benefactors-Scholar’s Gathering last March 14, 2010  at the Carlos Dominguez Conference Hall of the LRC Bldg.

The said event allowed the scholars to meet with their benefactors and moreover, it gave them the opportunity to show their gratitude for the generosity of their benefactors.

Mr. Robi Jone Lim, a Philippine American Association of North Carolina (PAANC) Scholar, and Mr. Dante Partosa, a math professor and academic alumni scholar of AdZU college, represented the scholars in their testimonial speeches. Mrs. Vilma Tan, a mother of a BSE Millennium Scholar, gave her words of thanks on behalf of the parents of the scholars.

Afterwards, Mr. Ernie Natura Jr., manager and representative of Natasha- Zamboanga, represented the benefactors in his reply speech.

Fr. Antonio Moreno, S.J. concluded the event through a presentation of the statistics of the number of scholars in AdZU. The president was proud to report that AdZU took the number one spot in terms of scholar population relative to the total population of the university among other Ateneo universities in the country. The president reported that AdZU currently has around 29% of its total student population as scholars.

Fr. Moreno also expressed his goals for the coming years regarding the scholar population of the college and high school levels of AdZU. He aims to achieve and maintain a 30% scholar population both in the college and high school levels.
