BA INTS takes over 16th MISSCON

BA International Studies (BA INTS) students of AdZU School of Liberal Arts (SLA) bags gold in various academic competitions during the 16th Mindanao International Studies Society Convention (MISSCON) hosted by the Licean Corps Diplomatique (LCD) of Liceo de Cagayan University last February 19-22, 2020 at Pearlmont Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City.

Freshman Ma Chessca Dondoyano bested other writers and won the championship in the Essay Writing Competition, while sophomore Michael John Alipio emerged victorious the Extemporaneous Speech.

AdZU SLA also won the Quiz Bowl Competition with a team composed of Freshmen Jason Idlisan, Stephen Edward Villanueva and Sophomore Regina Francisco, who also won 2nd runner up in the Ms MISSCON.

With the theme, “GLOBAL MINDANAO: Issues, Challenges and Prospects”, MISSCON invited speakers such as Samira Gutoc from the Marawi Recovery Program; Ambassador Uriel Noman Ganibay; Consul General Dicky Fabrian from the Indonesian Consulate to the Philippines; Hon Rommel Armado, City Mayor of Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte; and Cong Rufus Rodriguez, a Cagayan de Oro City district representative, to tackle different perspective on Mindanao issues.

MISSCON is an annual event that brings together more than 200 International Studies and International Relations students from nine (9) tertiary schools across Mindanao. Through plenary sessions and other activities discussing local and international issues, workshops and other activities, MISSCON convenes Mindanaoan students for the rich exchange of knowledge, ideas and practices.
