CHRISTIAN LIFE EDUCATION (CLE) DEPARTMENT

As part of a Filipino University, the Christian Life Education Department seeks:

1.     to hold learning activities that promote Christian values and practices that strengthen the relationship among the members of the family, the basic unit of Filipino society; and

2.     to deepen students  concern and awareness of the Christian dimension of Filipino community values, which bring about love and genuine concern of one’s fellowmen, reverence and respect for the country’s God-given natural and economic resources and of its rich cultural heritage.

As part of a Secondary Preparatory School, the Christian Life Education Department seeks:

1.     to provide the students with solid understanding of the basic  doctrines of our Catholic faith in preparation for religious studies and reflection in the grade school level; and

2.     to sharpen student’s critical faculty through opportunities for reflection and openness to the working of God in the day to day practical realities.

 

As part of a Catholic University, the Christian Life Education Department seeks:

1.     to present Christ as a model of human life and invite students to personal friendship with Him by instructing them about His life and teaching;

2.     to manifest Christ-centered spirituality and values in classrooms and campus activities;

3.     to help the students experience growing as persons rooted in the Christian community, sensitive to the needs of people around them, ready to assume responsibilities as members of the larger society and ultimately as members of the Church;

4.     to help the students develop Christian responsiveness emerging from a deep knowledge of themselves and of human situation in the light of the gospel; and                                       

5.     to express appreciation and love for religious affairs such as recollections,  devotion to the Virgin Mary, and the celebration of the great feast of the Jesuit patron saint, Ignatius of Loyola.

 

As part of a Jesuit University, the Christian Life Education department shares in the:

1.     common vision and goals of the worldwide system of Jesuit education. These vision and goals are contained in the University mission documents and characteristics of Jesuit Education.

DEPARTAMENTO NG FILIPINO

Bilang bahagi ng isang Filipinong Pamantasan layunin ng Kagawaran ng Filipino para sa kanyang mag-aaral na:

1.     malinang ang kakayahan sa pakikinig, pagsasalita, pagbasa at   pagsulat, pag-iisip at pakikipagtalastasan sa wikang Filipino;

2.     mapaunlad ang talasalitaan upang matugunan ang mga pangangailangan sa ikatutulong ng mga mag-aaral sa iba’t  ibang pagkakataon.

3.     malinang ang kakayahan ng mga mag-aaral  sa pagsasatitik ng mga iniisip at dinaramdam at maitanim ang mga tunay na maka – Pilipinong  kaisipan at mithiin sa pamamagitan ng pag-aaral ng mga kaugalian, tradisyon, paniniwala at kasaysayan ng Filipino.

4.     malinang ang kasanayan sa pag-unawa tulad ng pang-unawang literal, interpretasyon, panunuri, aplikasyon, at pagpapahalaga tungo sa mahuasay at mataas na pakikipagtalastasan maging sa pagsasalita o pagsulat: at

5.     mapa-unlad ang kamalayang panlipunan bilang tao para sa kanyang kapwa, at pagaglang at pag-iingat sa kalikasan.

Bilang bahagi ng paghahanda para sa Paaralang Sekondarya, layunin ng Kagawaran ng Filipino na:

1.     ihanda ang mga mag-aaral sa mga gawaing sa pamamagitan ng pagsasangkap ng kanilang kaalaman at galing upang magagamit nang wasto sa pagsusulat, at pakikipagtalastasan nang wasto sa wikang Filipino bilang paghahanda sa pangsekondaryang edukasyon; at

2.     mabigyan din ng pansin ang paglinang sa kakayahang makapagpapahayag ng saloobin sa kritikal na pamamaraan at malikhaing pag-iisip na gumagamit ng malinaw at makapanghihikayat na mga salita sa pang-araw-araw na buhay at paglutas ng mga karaniwang suliranin.

 

Bilang bahagi ng isang Katolikong Pamantasan, layunin ng Kagawaran ng Filipino na:                    

1.     mapag-aralan ang mga araling pangkaalaman at pangkasanayan na tumutugon sa mga pangunahing kaisipan, kagandahang-asal, kahalagang moral at ispiritwal, pagpapahalaga tungo sa pagkakaroon ng pananagutang panlipunan, lalung-lalo na ang pagpapakita ng paggalang sa kapwa na taglay ang pagmamalasakit tulad ng ginawa ni Hesu Kristo sa paraang hindi ipinakita ang pagkampi sa alinmang sekto ng relihiyon.

 

Bilang bahagi ng Heswitang Pamantasan, nilalayon ng Kagawaran ng Filipino na:

1.     hubugin at turuan ang mga kabataan ng mabuting pamumuhay at kalinisan ng hangarin sa buhay ng kabanalan at pag-uugali, pagkakaroon ng kaukulang responsibilidad, dedikasyon sa pagbibigay ng serbisyo tungo sa pagpapaunlad at kahalagahan ng tungkuling ginagampanan ng isang mamamayan sa bansa at sa buong Kanlurang Mindanao, higit sa lahat ang pagiging tunay na Atenista para sa kapwa.

 

ENGLISH  DEPARTMENT

As part of a Filipino University, the English Department aims:

1.     to develop and cultivate among the students desirable values of the Filipino cultural heritage and to arouse in them the love for beauty; and

2.     to develop the appreciation and respect for other cultures and thus enable them to appreciate the richness of their own heritage.

                               

As part of a Secondary Preparatory School, the English Department aims:

1.     to develop in the learners the listening, speaking, reading, and writing competencies which are important aspects of communication;

2.     to train the child on the ability to think, to judge, to make decision, to speak, and to write correctly and effectively;

3.     to broaden and improve interest and taste in reading; and

4.     to encourage critical analysis of ideas.

As part of a Catholic University, the English Department aims:

1.     to cultivate in the students concern for others and the practice of generosity to their fellowmen as well as to manifest their commitment to social justice through the integration of values in the reading subjects and in the theme writing;

2.     to develop in the students the traditional skills in speaking and writing (eloquentia perfecta) through varied activities that include elocution (choral and individual), discussions, role playing, paragraph development and other writing exercise;

3.     to sharpen their abilities and communicative skills in order to respond creatively and function effectively as instruments of God in the service of others; and

4.     to make students realize that the world is basically good because God created it and they can make it a better place because God is working through them.

 

MATHEMATICS  DEPARTMENT

As part of A Filipino University, the Mathematics Department aims to:

1.     develop in the students the right attitude towards the effective utilization of quantitative procedures and techniques towards the enhancement of our rich cultural heritage; and

2.     develop awareness of and concern  for our existing natural resources through real word problems related to Mathematics.

As part of a Secondary Preparatory School,  the Mathematics Department aims to:

1.     equip and prepare the students with the fundamental mathematical concepts and skills needed in High School mathematics;

2.     develop the competency of the basic mathematical abilities of the students by sharpening their skills in their own level, their perception, the recognition of the mathematical part of life; and

3.     develop in the students an awareness of Mathematics as a dynamic, powerful and worthwhile endeavor which is an essential part of life.

As part of a Catholic University, the Mathematics Department aims to:

1.     develop in the students appreciation of the value and importance of Mathematics in ordinary life; and

2.     develop in the students the right attitudes towards Mathematics as a tool for applying analytical thinking in everyday living of a Christian life.

As part of a Jesuit University, the Mathematics Department aims to:

1.     develop in the students the ability to reason out logically and critically in view of inculcating the Ignatian spirituality and ideas;

2.     develop awareness of the value of being “Persons for others” through the sharing of the acquired mathematical concepts, skills, and abilities;

3.     develop in the students the ability to think, to question, to seek understanding of the different mathematical concepts and to create more imaginative methods for working or solving problems (idea of magis); and

4.     develop the habit of accuracy and precision to achieve excellence in Mathematics.

SCIENCE AND HEALTH  DEPARTMENT

As part of a Filipino University, the Science and Health Department aims:

1.     to equip the students with basic scientific knowledge, skills, desirable attitudes and values needed by human beings in order to become effective and productive members of the society;

2.     to develop an appreciation of the use of Science and Technology for the betterment of the quality of life of the people and in national development; and

3.     to develop in the consciousness of the students their duties and responsibilities to the country as stewards of God’s creation.

As part of a Secondary Preparatory School, the Science and Health Department aims:

1.     to assist the students in acquiring the basic scientific knowledge and skills needed in their investigation and exploration of the different scientific processes and phenomena in the Grade School level.

                               

As part of a Catholic University, the Science and Health Department aims:

1.     to make the students recognize the importance of man’s relationship with his/her fellowmen and with nature as the basis of man’s unity with God.

As part of a Jesuit University, the Science and Health Department aims:

1.     to help students understand, appreciate and make use of the discoveries, explorations, models, research and invention of science for the benefit of humankind.

 

SOCIAL STUDIES / HEKASI (HEOGRAPIYA, KASAYSAYAN AT SIBIKA) DEPARTMENT

As part of a Filipino University, the Social Studies Department aims:

1.        to make the students emulate desirable Filipino values and  ideals exemplified by the Filipino martyrs and heroes;

2.        to develop awareness of their own cultural and social ability and identity which are distinct from other foreign cultural influences;

3.        to enhance the sense of nationhood by taking pride in their heritage;

4.        to develop environmental awareness and be committed to conserve and utilize the natural resources and economic wealth that God has given the Filipinos as a nation; and

5.        foster an awareness of the oral, political, economic and social problems of contemporary Filipino society.

 

As part of a Secondary Preparatory School, the Social Studies Department aims:

1.        to provide pattern and experience of study that will serve as a foundation for specialization at a later stage of education of the students. At the early stages, students are made familiar with the basic knowledge of various  disciplines; and

2.        to form in the students the habit of constructive and critical thinking about the social, political, and cultural conditions, prevalent in the local, national and global communities.

 

As part of a Catholic University , the  Social Studies  Department aims:

1.        to inculcate in the students the Christian teachings and traditions which are manifested in their own cultural, social political life; and

2.        to manifest openness and understanding in dealing with people belonging to different religions in their country.

 

As part of a Jesuit University, the Social Studies the Department aims:

1.        to impart to the students the value of love, unselfish concern, and involvement with their fellowmen in the promotion of justice and service of the faith within the Filipino social, cultural, and political community.

 

MUSIC, ARTS AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

MUSIC DEPARTMENT

As part of a Filipino University, the Music Education Department aims:

1.        to provide basic information about music, its style, forms, terminologies and other facts that are fundamental for knowledge of the art;

2.        to develop love for Filipino music;

3.        to develop the ability to read notations and musical terms and use them in music activities; and

4.        to develop an understanding of standards for judging the quality of music and music performance.

 

As part of a Secondary Preparatory School,  the Music Education Department aims:

1.        to develop confidence and creative self-expression and the ability to communicate one’s ideas to others;

2.        to promote international friendship and understanding; and

3.        to develop love of God, country and a feeling of oneness among the people.

   

ARTS DEPARTMENT

As part of a Filipino University, the Art Education Department aims:

1.        to provide free hand drawing and other art activities suited to  elementary school children;

2.        to develop in the children creativity and the ability to spontaneously relate with their environment; and

3.        to develop sensitivity for beauty at home, at school, and in the community.

 

As part of a Catholic University, the Art Education Department aims:

1.        to develop the children’s awareness and aesthetic skills in judging and discriminating available materials for utilization; and

2.        to provide children with wholesome experience for their personal maximum personal growth.

As part of a Jesuit University, the Art Education   Department aims:

1.        to develop civic responsibility, social awareness, and group cooperation;

2.        to develop in the students the value and respect for artistic expression; and

3.        to develop self-confidence, creative self-expression, and the ability to communicate one’s ideas to others.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION  DEPARTMENT

As part of a Filipino University, the Physical Education Department aims:

1.        to develop definite social and ethical finesse, which characterizes good citizenship in a democratic society.

As part of a Catholic University , the  Physical  Education  Department aims:

1.        to enhance the school P.E program and so to produce a Christian Filipino who is physically, mentally, and socially sound.

As part of a Jesuit University, the Physical Education Department aims:

1.        to develop sportsmanship and desirable social attitudes;

2.        to develop love for sports as a means of keeping oneself physically fit;

3.        to develop teamwork/cooperation/unity among students;

4.        to develop respect for authority and abide by the decision of the official of the games;

5.        to develop patience during practices in to achieve perfection in the sports he/she is participating in;

6.        to develop concern for the time of other people by being prompt in starting any scheduled activity;

7.        to develop care for the various athletic equipment borrowed;

8.        to train students to be responsible and honest, that is, to  return borrowed equipment as expected of him/her; and

9.        to humble oneself to accept one’s capabilities and weaknesses.

 

HOME ECONOMICS AND LIVELIHOOD EDUCATION (HELE) DEPARTMENT

As part of a Filipino University, the Home Economics and Livelihood Education Department aims:

1.        to expose students to varied activities that develop in them the skills of organization and systematic planning, the value of creativity, resourcefulness, industry, the desire for functionality and concern for the environment;

2.        to develop  awareness of self-help habits and active participation in decision-making at home, in school, and in the community;

3.        to help students in achieving healthy and wholesome family and community relationships; and

4.        to develop an appreciation of what is truly Filipino by using indigenous materials in their projects.

 

As part of a Secondary Preparatory School, the Home Economics and Livelihood Education (HELE) Department aims:

1.        to develop in the students logical, critical, and creative way of thinking;

2.        to help them acquire basic skills in problem solving of actual situations: and

3.        to train them to implement ideas and acquire skills in their various activities.

 

As part of a Catholic University , the Home Economics and Livelihood Education Department aims:

1.        to highlight the values of cooperation, honesty, tolerance, industry, patience   and perseverance; and

2.        to develop love, respect and appreciation for work.

 

As part of a Jesuit University, the Home Economics and Livelihood Education Department aims:

1.        to contribute to the total formation of the students through the development of their creative talents and aesthetic sense;

2.        to train them in the proper use of common hand tools, equipment and materials and train them in the practical processes necessary in the family and community situation (service to others); and

3.        to emphasize excellence in their work.

 

COMPUTER  EDUCATION  DEPARTMENT

 

As part of a Filipino University, the Computer Education Department aims:

1.        to provide basic computer education to enable students to meet the challenges of computerization and advancement in technology in the world;

2.        to develop awareness and concern in the students in the use of computer technology to solve relevant an d real-world problems;

3.        to develop an appreciation of computer technology for the enhancement of the quality of life; and

4.        to equip the students with basic computer knowledge and skills needed to become effective and productive members of society.

 

As part of a Secondary Preparatory School, the Computer Education Department aims:

1.        to equip and prepare the students with the basic computer literacy needed in High School.

As part of a Catholic University, the Computer Education Department aims:

1.        to develop in the students the love of God through the teaching of selected educational software; and

2.        to develop in the students the right attitude towards computer literacy as a tool for applying logical and analytical skills in the life of a Christian.

 

As part of a Jesuit University, the Computer Education Department aims:

1.        to contribute to the total formation of the students to tapping their creative skills in computer;

2.        to develop in the students the awareness of being men and women for others through the sharing of acquired computer knowledge and skills;

3.        to develop in the students the ability to reason and express oneself creatively through the use of their skills in computer; and

4.        to develop in the students the habit of patience and accuracy to achieve excellence.
