Understanding the Self: Philosophy Department holds Human Sexuality Forum

By Sarah Jikiri, SLA Information Officer

AdZU School of Liberal Arts (SLA), through its Philosophy Department and in partnership with the Ateneo Center for Culture and the Arts, organized the Teen Talks on Teenage Pregnancy, Family Planning, and SOGIE for students taking up Understanding the Self Classes last September 6-7, 2019.

The forum was held to contextualize classroom teachings with real world applications, as well as to raise awareness of social issues related to human sexuality.

January T. Cutin, ACCA-SUGPAT youth educator, joined the forum as the resource speaker. He emphasized that, “Human sexuality is not just physical,” and, “The world…is diverse.”

The forum allowed students to correct misconceptions about human sexuality thereby deepening their understanding of it.
